Why WSQ Providers Need a TPQA-Compliant, TPGateway-Integrated TMS in 2026

Summary

Spreadsheets and generic LMS platforms cannot carry WSQ compliance in 2026. A TPQA-compliant, TPGateway-integrated Training Management System is the difference between a passed audit and an expensive remediation.

WSQ providers in 2026 cannot run on Excel, Google Drive, and a generic LMS. The audit-passing setup is a Training Management System that natively talks to TPGateway, version-controls assessments and trainer records, and exports the TPQA evidence pack as one button. Below is the architecture and why each part matters. Book a 30-minute TMS readiness review →

The four things a generic LMS does not do

  1. Two-way TPGateway integration. Course runs, enrolment, attendance, assessment, and funding all flow over SSG APIs — not manual re-upload. We covered the API surface in our SSG-integrated TMS post.
  2. Version-controlled assessment rubrics. Auditors will ask which version of the rubric was used on run #47 in October. A generic LMS has no answer; a proper TMS does.
  3. Trainer CPD evidence vault. ACTA / ACLP, sector qualifications, CPD logs — searchable, time-stamped, exportable per trainer per run.
  4. One-button TPQA evidence pack. The combined export across course design, delivery, assessment, feedback, and certificates. Without this, audit week is a week.

What changes under WSQ 2.0

WSQ 2.0 (effective 1 May 2026) narrows the WSQ scope to standardisation and cross-sector portability use cases — but it does not lower the evidence bar. Courses that move to the Tier 2 / CASL track described in our CASL application post still need the same evidence pipeline. A modern TMS handles both tracks under one operating model.

Self-hosted, not SaaS-rented

The TMS we deploy is self-hosted from our open GitHub repository into your tenancy. Your database, your audit log, your data residency. We cover the operational side (deployment, patching, SLA support); you keep the lock-in-free architecture. The trade-offs versus SaaS are in our earlier TMS post.

FAQ

Can we keep our current LMS?

Usually yes. The TMS becomes the system of record; the LMS handles delivery. We have integrated this pattern with Moodle, Canvas, and several proprietary LMS platforms. See the LMS service page.

How long is the migration?

4–8 weeks for a small ATO; 8–14 weeks for a larger CET provider. The bottleneck is data migration from legacy systems, not the new stack.

What about training the team?

Administrators take the WSQ courses; tech leads pick up integration patterns through the Python courses and AI courses at Tertiary Courses Singapore.

What if we are mid-audit cycle?

We have done parallel-run migrations where the legacy system carries the current audit while the new TMS comes online for the next cycle. The audit week itself is not the right time to switch; the recovery week after it is.

What to do next

  1. Time-test your current setup. Can you produce the full TPQA evidence pack for any past run in under 30 minutes? If not, that is the gap.
  2. Book the readiness review. One week, fixed scope. Book a TMS readiness review →
  3. Scope a deployment. Send us your learner / run volume and we will return a deployment plan and quote. Request a deployment quote →
